Manor Grove's 3rd Annual Soup's On — a Soup'r Success!

February 21, 2010

ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 21, THE 3RD ANNUAL Manor Grove Soup’s On… Drew nearly 1,000 folks to the Kirkwood Community Center. Despite a cold, rainy day, people from all over St. Louis lined up for a day of soup. Manor Grove had space for 22 restaurants and filled the room— with more restaurants—waiting to be included. A grand total of 22 restaurants served 34 soups, and the infamous "SOUP GUY" filled cups with Manor Grove's homemade favorite —Asparagus soup. “No Soup For You!” he said, but ladled up plenty!

“The Soup’s On event helps Manor Grove continue to maintain a beautiful and modern residence for our elderly,” said Kristin Nesser, R.N. and Administrator at Manor Grove. “We invite the public to stop by and see just how their funds have been put to good use.” The discerning judges were served soup samples by members of Manor Grove's Board of Directors. Soups were critiqued and given points based on a scale of 1-10. The public also cast their vote for their favorite soup. Restaurants had the opportunity to win first, second, and third place in both Judges’ & People’s Choice awards.

Restaurants who made it to the “SOUP’S ON” Red Carpet for the People’s Choice Awards:
  • FIRST PLACE: Gold Ladle Award – Culinary Arts for a Rasberry White Chocolate Swirl Soup
  • SECOND PLACE: Silver Ladle Award – Fandango’s Bar and Grill for Cajun Chicken Corn Chowder
  • THIRD PLACE: Bronze Ladle Award – Canyon Café for it's Poblano Chicken Chowder

  • SECOND PLACE: Silver Ladle Award – Canyon Café for it's Poblano Chicken Chowder
  • THIRD PLACE: Bronze Ladle Award – Provisions Market in Creve Coeur for Tomato Bisque

“Soup's On is a fabulous fund raiser and we feel honored that so many restaurants, suppliers, and businesses contributed generously to this event," said Mrs. Nesser. This year, Manor Grove Soup's On Cook-off included a panel of eight judges:

Dave Glover – Radio Host 97.1 FM Talk
